lifesaving
The Aquarium Swim School operates a lifesaving club run by Gina Doyle, Trainer Assessor (Essex Branch) for The Royal Lifesaving Society UK.

The awards and qualifications offer an opportunity for people of all ages to undertake training and assessment of life saving and life support. Combining fitness, knowledge, skill and judgment for dealing with simulated emergencies particularly at aquatic locations, they require varying levels of proficiency.

Rookie Lifeguard Programmes

Age 5-13 years. Lots of fun is achieved as well as basic survival skills and lifesaving skills to help oneself and others in a time of need. There are four Star Grades and four levels within each grade so the children are taught all required skills. Badges are available for this programme.

Life Saving: Bronze Medallion/Award of Merit/Distinction

Age 12 and over. Develop a variety of skills at basic levels leading to excellent levels of knowledge of water safety, understanding and practical ability in rescue situations. When help is needed, pupils will know how to save a casualty’s life without endangering their own.

Life Support 1, 2 and 3

Age - open. Resuscitation and Cardiopulmonary resuscitation skills are taught on adults, children and infants. Additionally you will learn how to deal with choking, bleeding, shock and basic first aid.

Candidates can take national awards for both lifesaving and life support and will be examined by an independent Trainer Assessor of the RLSS UK (Essex Branch).
